Overview
Client: Royal Commission for AlUla
In collaboration with: WATG
Project Director & Master Planning Subject Matter Expert

Main project features: The RCU has been tasked with the reinvigoration and sensitive development of the Khaybar Heritage Area within the narrative of AlUla, connecting two destinations together into one journey. The development of the Khaybar Heritage Area is expected to take place in several phases, starting with a potential aerial visitor experience of the volcanos and archaeological wonders as a day trip extension of the AlUla experience offerings. Once the required infrastructure is in place, a series of boutique or farm accommodation options may follow, providing a high-end immersive experience. As the market matures, additional accommodation and activities could be added to the Khaybar offering. WATG was contracted to develop the Development Brief and outline the scope of work for delivering the Master Plan for Khaybar Heritage Area.
Activities performed: Assembling and leading the team to develop the development brief, prepare the suitability maps, collect and analyze the data and develop the customers experience framework. Full suite of project and team management, as well as technical leadership, with focus on ensuring that it complies with the county framework plan as well as client visions and objectives. Capacity development of RCU’s team and stakeholders (material and training). Review and quality assurance of other team members’ outputs. Client and stakeholder coordination and meeting/mission conduction.
